You can also receive training at CPR On Wheels on the automated external defibrillation (AED). An AED unit is a portable device that analyzes the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, allow a rescuer to deliver an electric shock to a victim of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

This shock, called defibrillation, may halt the rapid and chaotic heart activity of SCA, and help the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. About the size of a laptop computer, an AED consists of a main unit and detachable electrodes that the rescuer applies to the victim's body. Once applied, the AED unit guides rescuers through actions using audio and/or visual prompts.

According to the American Heart Association, every year about 220,000 people suffer cardiac arrest and only about 5% of them survive.

Cardiac arrest is a condition in which abnormal heart rhythms cause the heart's electrical impulses to suddenly become chaotic. When this happens, the heart stops abruptly and the victim collapses and quickly loses consciousness.  Death usually follows unless a normal heart rhythm is restored within a few minutes. Defibrillation is the only known treatment to restore the normal rhythm. For every minute defibrillation is delayed, the victim's chances of survival go down 7-10%.
