Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (1 day)

This course is regulated by Ofqual and meets the requirements of the HSE. 

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents.

The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations.

It is suitable as an entry level qualification for those entering the childcare industry. The qualification can be extended to the more extensive 2-day Paediatric qualification.

Duration

This course has a minimum of six contact hours in the classroom, consisting of both practical and theoretical exercises. It usually takes place over one day, but can be spread over a longer period if required.

Syllabus:

  • Role of the Paediatric First Aider

  • Primary Survey

  • Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)

  • Wounds Bleeding and Shock

  • Seizures

  • Choking

  • Minor Injuries

  • Recovery Position

Certification

Completion of the course is dependent on ongoing assessment during the course alongside a multiple choice question paper at the end. The qualification is valid for 3 years. To renew your qualification, the full 6 hour course must be repeated.

There are maximum of 12 students per course

Requirements

You must be at least 16 years of age to attend this course. You must also have a reasonable level of fitness.
